Seda Kayaks

Traditional Yacht Sales image
"SEDA's low, low prices have many manufacturers and retailers shaking in their booties. Some have resorted to hearsay and innuendo, hoping to scare paddlers away from SEDA kayaks. They hope you will then spend $500 to $900 more for a kayak they sell, which may be of similar construction but often without outside fiberglass seams that is not as well designed. Several customers have made us aware of these scare tactics. SEDA keeps prices low in several ways. None of them are at the cost of a quality of product. Tell us what the competition has said about SEDA and we will give you truthful answers as best as we know them. We promise to be up front about how SEDA compare in quality and performance with just about any kayak you wish to know about. We have been a dealer for SEDA KAYAKS since 1990. Our customers have been overwhelmingly happy with them. They are generally amazed at how little they paid for such a great kayak. We hear comments like: "You know I bought this kayak because it was the least expensive I could find, but now that I've tried all my friends kayaks, you know, I got a better kayak then they did."

Traditional Yacht Sales image Amigo
There are two bulkheads in this kayak one behind each seat. Front hatch has a neoprene cockpit cover and fiberglass top for paddling as a single kayak. Lashing bungee is behind the rear cockpit and also in the front of both cockpits. We believe that well designed single kayaks do not need rudder. However we build the AMIGO with rudder as standard equipment because of its capability to convert into a double. Because of the rudder the extra cockpit, adjustable seat and its larger size the AMIGO is priced above our other single kayaks. This new kayak is equipped with modern molded rubber webbing handles for ease of portaging.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Starlet
The Starlet was developed to meet popular demand for a smaller performance kayak. A scaled down version of the ever-popular Gypsy, the Starlet design goal was to deliver a sea kayak for women and smaller men looking for more performance and lightweight. Advanced paddlers can lean the boat easily to carve turns and brace into the waves. One will find the Starlet a little less stable than the Gypsy, but maneuverability and speed are similar, although it is a couple of inches shorter. The narrower beam makes up in speed for loss of length. The hatches consist of a cockpit rim and neoprene cover with a fiberglass top hatch on both ends. Ergonomic carrying handles for and aft ease portaging and onto a car a joy. It is available in all our standard colors, and a rudder is an option.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Vagabond
Since 1973, the Vagabond has been our general-purpose kayak. Perhaps 30 years in production make it an old school classic, but it remains in our lineup for the simple reason that paddlers keep ordering it. Don't underestimate this basic boat - in 1978, before specialized ocean kayaks, famous expedition paddler Ed Gillet used a Vagabond for a 600 mile jaunt on the Sea of Cortez from San Felipe to La Paz in 23 days. The original design has since been modified to be more suitable for open water, while still being fun for rivers and surf. The addition of a shallow V the whole length of the hull has improved tracking ability, while the bow and stern are sharper for better straight speed. The Vagabond will be appreciated by those who want to try just about everything kayaking has to offer: rivers, lakes, or oceans. It is a lightweight, compact compromise between whitewater and long distance cruising. A stable, friendly boat for beginners, and an excellent boat just to get out on the water, whether for exercise or adventure. The Vagabond comes equipped with a large comfortable molded seat with adjustable foot and backrest. Floatation bags are recommended, and available separately from Seda Products.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Gypsy
The Gypsy has a shallow "V" running the length of the hull, clean bow entry and a properly shaped stern to reduce skating around (so common in shorter kayaks). This sharp stern also limits weathercocking in a crosswind. Weathercocking is also minimized by the high bow, which offers more sideways wind resistance. Gypsy is a stable boat with its 24" beam and is easily paddled by beginners, while experienced paddlers of small stature will find the boat comfortable and fast, despite its shorter 15' length. Gypsy can be considered a fast sea kayak when compared to other similar length kayaks because of its low wetted surface design. Standard equipment includes a comfortable seat, kneepads, adjustable backrest, lashing cords and ergonomic portage handles.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Viking
VIKING has a shallow v-bottom all through the hull and increased sharpness of the stern for better tracking. VIKING has a large comfortable cockpit and tremendous buoyancy, which makes this kayak the ideal choice for really large people. Its gear carrying ability lends itself perfectly to long expeditions. The bow gives it the traditional upswept Eskimo look, and the fish shaped hull with its 25" beam and high deck makes VIKING the most stable of our sea kayak singles. It is an excellent boat for taking pictures, fishing or general paddling. The stability and good price of the VIKING makes it the excellent entry level sea kayak for beginners. Hanging molded seat, backrest, bow & stern carrying handles and adjustable footrests are standard features. There is a large 10" diameter bow hatch operated with two cam handles. The stern hatch is a geometrical oval at 16 X 12" opening with neoprene cover seal and hard top fiberglass protecting hatch. The no-frills fiberglass construction has only a rear bulkhead. The deluxe and lightweight models have both bow and stern watertight compartments. As in all of our standard models, the bow bulkhead can be added for an additional cost. An optional rudder system is also available for those planning to do rough water expedition paddling. All three constructions have triple inside and single outside fiberglass seams.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Swift
Our SWIFT is a fully equipped mid size sea kayak. Its size is half way between a long, narrow, fast sea kayak and a small compact one. This gives it plenty of directional stability and good speed under almost all conditions. It has a beautiful, swept-up Eskimo bow on a fast modern low wetted surface hull. Standard features in both constructions include a molded seat with comfortable, adjustable backrest, and adjustable foot rests; a bow and stern bulkhead and hatches with neoprene and overlaying fiberglass covers. Other welcome items are the bow and deck lashing kits with countersunk eye straps and toggle portage carrying handles. Both constructions have triple inside and single outside fiberglass seams.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Impulse
The IMPULSE is a shortened version of the GLIDER. The result is absolutely incredible. With its shorter length but low wetted surface it is just a touch slower than the super-fast GLIDER. With the added volume in the ends our IMPULSE is able to take the heavier paddler (up to 230 lbs.) and quite a bit of gear for fast extensive expeditions. Nevertheless, even smaller and lighter paddlers are able to paddle our IMPULSE effectively because of its narrow beam and low wetted surface. IMPULSE is a very aesthetically pleasing boat on and off the water with its blend of traditional Eskimo and modern racing kayak design. Impulse is available in either our Deluxe Fiberglass construction, or Lightweight Kevlar. Both the DELUXE and the LIGHTWEIGHT KEVLAR models are fully equipped with both front and rear bulkheads and have the well-known VCP 8" watertight bow hatch. All constructions have shock cord deck lashing and bow and stern carrying handles for convenience. Triple inside and single outside seams are standard in all versions.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Glider
GLIDER is a long 19-foot boat with a 22-inch beam. The narrow beam allows for more efficient paddling strokes and fewer disturbances in short irregular seas. Because of its length GLIDER is a stable boat even for a beginner. The generally low profile, especially in the stern, means less windage and less shakiness caused by passing waves. And in a following sea the upswept bow has enough forward buoyancy to reduce submarining. The higher bow and the lower stern balance each other in a crosswind. In short, GLIDER is a terrific boat to paddle. Standard features in both constructions include a molded seat with comfortable, adjustable backrest, and adjustable foot rests; a stern bulkhead and 12 X 16" elliptical hatch with neoprene and overlaying fiberglass cover; forward waterproof bulkhead with a large sealed bow hatch. Other welcome features are the bow and deck lashing kits, deck "life" lines, and comfortable soft suitcase style carrying handles.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Tango
Developed in 1988 as public demand for double kayaks surged, the Tango prototype was extensively tested in the Sea of Cortez in different wind and wave conditions to determine the most effective positioning of the seats. In tandem kayaks, the seat position is of crucial importance for control and to ensure paddlers will not strike each other when out of synch. These sea trials led to a 21-foot length design, with cockpits spaced in thirds of the length. The Tango comes packed with features to ensure a successful voyage. In addition to the center hatch, there is a 22" X 12" oval hatch in the stern for larger items, and an oval 16" X 10" hatch in the bow. Other standard features include molded seats with adjustable backrests, adjustable foot rests, deck cords for both cockpits, and ergonomic portage handles. A large blade rudder is standard equipment to ensure easy steering.

REVENGE is equipped with fully adjustable footrests and a comfortable 6" wide adjustable backrest for better control of this efficient kayak in waves. For those who may want a rudder for expedition work, our REVENGE is optional rudder ready. Grab handles are standard. If you want the latest "sit-on-top" technology in a well-designed, fast and attractive kayak, the REVENGE is your boat.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Spirit
The SPIRIT is very fast downriver racing kayak with low wetted surface design. It can be considered stable when comparing to an Olympic racing kayak however we would not recommend it to a total beginner. Enjoyed by an intermediate and appreciated by expert paddlers. If you are looking for building up your upper body strength in a lightweight kayak, while you are passing fast most recreational kayaks on the water, SPIRIT would be good choice for you. Bow and stern have foam pillars, adjustable footrest; two available constructions in variety of colors are the features of our SEDA SPIRIT. Actually over past few years, because of the popularity of Triathlons including kayak paddling, our sales of SPIRIT have increased dramatically.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Wanderer
The Wanderer is a full size, deep hull expedition canoe produced since 1973. Her lines are smooth with a slight rocker at bow and stern creating a maneuverable canoe for the length. Bilges are round, making Wanderer less vulnerable to cross waves and whirlpools. Round bilges also mean less wetted surface at a given displacement...in less technical words, a higher hull speed. The performance of the Wanderer design has been proven in many wins over the years in the long distance touring canoe class, including in the grueling 50 mile Colorado River Marathon. With a goal of continual improvement, the hull was deepened and updated recently. The pronounced shallow V is carried all the way down the hull for kinder handling of whitewater without the pounding and flexing common in flat-bottomed canoes. With a payload capacity of 800 lbs, a Wanderer will carry enough gear and provisions to allow exploring for weeks at a time in the wilderness. Whether the Yukon, McKenzie, sheltered island hopping around the Pacific Northwest or in the Boundary Waters, the Wanderer will be at home. It can also serve well to take the larger family for a quiet afternoon paddle. Mahogany gunnels are also available for a classic look, and Seda offers a range of floatation bags for use on rougher waters.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Scamp
The 14-foot Scamp meets a demand for a short, compact, durable canoe. An ideal canoe for both the young at heart and newer paddlers. This stable boat is ready for a lazy afternoon fishing on the lake, a quick exploration of the next cove or river bend or even on mild whitewater in the hands of skilled paddlers. Many customers especially like the Scamp for solo paddling because of the lightweight of the Kevlar construction makes it easy to load and unload from a vehicle. The design provides a wide 38" beam for stability, and a 14" depth midship for dryness. Seats are positioned low, which together with full bilges enhances stability. The modern shallow V hull reduces pounding in the waves and flexing of the bottom. This V hull combined with a sharp bow and stern give the Scamp decent tracking ability and speed for the short length. For paddling alone, just use your Scamp backwards while sitting on the front seat facing the stern. This is an old but not well-known trick for soloing, providing better lateral trim on the water. The Scamp is available in three different constructions to suit different purposes and budgets. Comfortable webbed seats and an ash portage yoke/center thwart are included in all constructions, while Mahogany gunnels are available as an option for a classic look.

Standard Fiberglass 68 lbs $990.00
Deluxe Fiberglass 60 lbs $1090.00
Kevlar Lightweight 49 lbs $1590.00

Traditional Yacht Sales image Scout
For years the beginner friendly Scout has been our best selling canoe for both families and the Boy Scouts. The hull has a modern shallow V design, while retaining the traditional Native American style bow and stern. The shallow V improves straight line tracking, while limiting flexing and pounding in waves. The entry of both ends is sharp and smooth, resulting in less wake and excellent speed for the16 ft. length. The Scout is deep amidships and has full bilges for stability. This mid-size canoe is capable of taking a couple with overnight camping gear for a weeklong trip. It can also be used for a family of four for a day of fun on the water. Scout is at home on lakes, bays, rivers or even easy whitewater in the hands of skilled paddlers. In addition, the long-term durability of modern gel-coated fiberglass under UV ray exposure is superior to many plastics. Have fun with the SEDA Scout as many thousands of people have had before you! The Scout is available in three different constructions to suit different purposes and budgets. An Ash portage yoke/center thwart is standard in all constructions. Hand crafted Mahogany gunnels for a classic look are available as well.
