Necky Kayaks

Traditional Yacht Sales image
Necky once again continues to amaze us with their new line. With the upcoming 2005 kayak season approaching us, they have come out with 2 new models for our kayak enjoyment. The Chatham 17 (in polymer and composite) and the new recreational boat the Manitou Sport. I am sure that you will find these new designs in the same top ranking as the older designs. Whether you are a beginner or an expert I know that we have a Necky kayak to fit your needs.

Necky recreational kayaks are stable, amazingly durable, beautifully finished and super comfortable. They excel as platforms for paddling, bird watching, sun tanning, fishing, picnicking and communing with nature. They are easy to carry and car-top, and are at home on lazy rivers, lakes and quiet seas. Necky recreational boats bridge the gap between your first kayak and a full-on touring boat.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Chatham 18
At close to 18’ in length and with a very narrow beam, the Chatham 18 is an extremely capable “passage-maker” with a good turn of speed, great sea worthiness and surprising stability for such a slender craft. While still very nimble, the 18 is somewhat stiffer tracking and a little less maneuverable than her shorter sister, the 16. The snug cockpit and adjustable outfitting afford a superb interface between paddler and boat.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Tahsis
Long, narrow and sleek, the Tahsis, at 18’ long and 22” wide, is a fast expedition boat aimed at the intermediate to advanced paddler. Its low deck reduces windage and provides a snug fit in the cockpit. When cranked over on a lean, the boat is very solid and the multi chined hull carves turns beautifully. This is a boat for wearing more than sitting in, as it is very responsive to edging.
Designed for the active paddler seeking a performance touring kayak, the Tahsis excels at covering miles quickly and efficiently. Recessed deck fittings, perimeter lines and rudder are all standard.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Amaruk
The Amaruk is a smaller, more compact tandem well suited to day paddling or overnighters. It is ideal for those paddlers who are looking for a full featured double kayak, but who don’t want to deal with the extra weight and length of a full blown expedition boat. The Amaruk’s distinctive
bow provides a fine entry at the waterline while supplying lots of reserve buoyancy and allowing us to reduce the overall length of the boat. This shorter length shaves overall weight and makes the kayak easier to carry by hand, car top or lift onto a car or SUV.
Layup Options: Fiberglass or Advanced Composite (AC)
Length: 19’2.5” Width: 28.5”
Weight: 88 lbs (glass)/82 lbs (AC) Cockpit size: 31” x 16.5”

Traditional Yacht Sales image Nootka
The Nootka Plus is a sweet blend of a performance hull and good cargo capacity for touring. We stretched the cockpits apart on our original Nootka to fit in a center hatch and added most of the volume above the water line to keep the hull fast. Four bulkheads keep all three hatches dry. The result is a very fast tandem with enough room in the hatches for extended trips for careful packers. The decks are low to minimize windage. Whether racing or touring, a fast, efficient hull allows paddlers to travel more quickly with less strain and the Nootka Plus covers miles with ease.
Layup Options: Fiberglass or Advanced Composite (AC)
Length: 22’5” Width: 27”
Weight: 99 lbs (glass)/87 lbs (AC) Cockpit size: 31” x 16.5”

Traditional Yacht Sales image
The Necky whitewater program was born of a desire for kayaks that surfed better and interacted more dynamically with the river. Producing playboats with pronounced rails and lower tail rocker faster is better. Whether creeking, river running or playboating Necky builds what the consumer wants to paddle.

Traditional Yacht Sales image Mission
Conceived as a super fun, river-running playboat, the Mission has enough volume for all-day comfort and predictable handling in grabby hydraulics and squirrelly eddies. Pronounced bow and stern rocker yields easy surfing performance and loose, forgiving spins and play. A tucked rail keeps edges out of trouble in trashy holes, while still generating good carving ability on a wave. Whether the mission is to nail your first clean flat spin, perfect the stern squirt or surf until sunset, the innovative recoil outfitting, good foot room and predictable performance will keep you grinning from ear to ear. Mission accomplished.
Length: 7’2” Width: 25.5”
Weight: 34 lbs Cockpit size: 31” x 16”
Volume: 57 Gal
$1,099.00

Traditional Yacht Sales image Chronic
Super balanced, whether on the bow or stern, or transitioning between the two, the Chronic slices, bounces or carves into all the moves. With great speed for its length, it surfs and hops into big airs and blunts with ease. Forgiving when setting up for the next move, the Chronic is extremely loose on a green face, shreds holes and turns the flats into a playground. Necky’s unique recoil alloy outfitting creates a light and stiff hull that translates the paddler’s energy directly to the boat.
Dial the fit in straight out of the wrapper and go rip the local playspot Necky style.
Length: 6’6” Width: 24.5”
Weight: 32 lbs Cockpit size: 31” x 16”
Volume: 47 Gal
$1,179.00

Traditional Yacht Sales image Vibe
The Vibe continues Necky’s research into aggressive rails. An unashamedly uncompromising design, the Vibe is all about edges. The very pronounced rails yield awesome carving ability and
the speed needed to take aerials to a new altitude. The Vibe has incredible bite in rail-to-rail transition and loads ferociously, storing energy for explosive moves. There’s lots of volume building quickly from the bow for huge aerial loops and serious “pop.” New aluminum outfitting and custom fit means that your every move is transmitted to the kayak. This is the boat that Billy Harris paddled to a 5th place finish at the 2003 Worlds in Graz, Austria and Spencer Cooke paddled it to win the 2002 National Surf Kayak Championships.
Length: 6’2” Width: 24.5”
Weight: 32 lbs Cockpit size: 31” x 16”
Volume: 49 Gal
$1,179.00

Traditional Yacht Sales image Crux
The Crux represents our next evolutionary step in creeking. One critical area we focused on was the resurfacing characteristics. A great deal of attention went into sculpting the peaked deck and blending volume out to the ends. Long months of tweaking and careful evaluation resulted in a kayak that excels in tight technical creeks, handles big hydraulics with poise and resurfaces after big drops like a champ. The Crux has surprising speed for its length and punches holes with authority. Shorter, quicker and more controlled, the Crux still has enough volume for multi-day trips for the hard-core boater.
Length: 7’7” Width: 25”
Weight: 37 lbs Cockpit size: 34” x 17”
Volume: 72 Gal
$1,099.00

Traditional Yacht Sales image Orbit Fish
Eyeball the Orbit Fish and the first things that grab you attention are the stingers. In fact, the whole package screams “SURF”. Necky has always known how to rip it up on a wave, and the Orbit Fish continues that legacy. A true carving spud, it responds instantly when loading an edge and railing it around. The split tail and stingers shred features both big and small. This boat is no torture machine-there’s good volume where you need it. Fit is very comfortable and the boat is a surprisingly competent river runner. Bounce into aerials or carve aggressively into them for even bigger air. Helix, clean spin, blunts, loop or wave wheel.
Length: 6’6” Width: 24”
Weight: 34 lbs Cockpit size: 31” x 16”
Volume: 51 Gal
$1,179.00
